My mother is bed bound. She cannot walk or stand.

Find Care & Housing
You can hire a home health aide to come to your home to bathe her. Alternatively, there are large bath wipes you might buy. Then you could give mom a 'bed bath'. You would do one area at a time and keep the rest of her covered.

Does your mom live in a hot humid condition? Or is her living space air conditioned? If she's in an air conditioned home, she doesn't really need to bed bath daily. My mom was bedridden for over 13 years. My dad, through mom's doctor, had mom assigned a social worker from the clinic. The social worker got them enrolled in a gov't funded program. They provided 4 hours of services for dad or bedridden mom (like light housekeeping, laundry, etc..) My dad chose to break those 4 hour block to 1hr block - and all he wanted in those 4 hours was mom to be bed-bathed. They would come 4 times a week, for 1 hour, to 'shower' her in bed. (I bought several waterproof mattress covers for mom's hospital bed.) Why don't you check your mom's clinic if they know of any programs similar to this? Or your aging care government department? Otherwise, you may have to go private - and pay for them to come to your home.

Dear lovingheart99,

I would try speaking with a care agency or social worker about what options are available in the community. I think geewiz's idea of large bath wipe is an excellent alternative.
