Until the COVID 19 ban is over I'm confused cause I want to do what is best for her medically. She has a peg tube in her stomach that needs to come out because she's been eating every thing for 5 weeks now and she is ready to come home and getting impatient not understanding how serious the situation is for her please help me.
Will her insurance pay if she doesn't come home?
Those would be the 1st 2 questions that I would get answered before deciding anything.
Care isn’t usually over when rehab is over. Then home health is scheduled to continue the healing. So, that has to be considered too. Home health is covered by insurance.
You have concerns that need to be discussed with her primary doctor and her care team at rehab, including the social worker. In my mom’s case, the social worker is the person that led the meeting.
My mom was not quite ready to be released from rehab so she stayed a couple of extra days but she did have to pay for those days. Insurance only pays for the specified amount of days allowed even if a patient isn’t quite ready to be sent home.
Do you know if insurance companies are making allowances due to the virus? I have no idea if they are. Call and inquire.
Best wishes to you and your mom.
