I could imagine how difficult caring for 2 parents with no help. I've been caring for my 95 year old mother and it's way too much. I've had private pay Aide, but she's been out of town on family emergency since Christmas. If I were you, I'd look to keep them together in same place that has different levels of care. Start doing tours and talking to residents if they are happy there. Your parents are going to decline a lot more and you want to get them both settled in a place before that happens. Also, you have to probably see Elder Law Atty to begin the process. You need Power of Attorney, Health Care Proxy. Is it your house or your parents'? One thing for sure, things can't continue as they are. Good luck & hugs!

Placement is the only answer I can see here.
I have a few questions.
How old are you? Are you working? What is the financial status of your folks? And--most importantly--do you live with your parents in their home or do they live with you in your home, and are you the POA for your parents?
It's hard to answer your question without full information. Also, what is the age range of your parents, and your own age.

I would think that if you've been doing 24/7 care for more than a few days you are OUT of energy. It's a lot! Your profile says mom has dementia too. So, how bad are they? I would look at placing them somewhere. If it's a facility that has multiple levels (assisted living, skill nursing and memory care), they will evaluate them and see what's the best fit. That's what they did for my mom. She has mild/moderate dementia. They put her in assisted living, with extra levels of help due to her dementia.

If you are not ready or willing to place them, you should get them home caregivers. Your parents might not like it but that's OK. You are getting burnt out and their choice are very slim at this stage of life.
