You are the middleman between your mom and your own family. The Sandwich Generation. I know it's not a comfortable place to be and you're probably stretched way too thin but ppalmer316 had good suggestions on how to make time for your own family and your obligations to your mom. Easier said than done though, right? :-)

My kids are 20 and 22. My parents lived in a different state most of their lives so they are not that comfortable with my mom. I was just married less than a year so my husband isn't that close with my mom. She is a very nice person but does some annoying things like everyone else but the family seems to always complain TO ME and my mom will also complain about then TO ME. I feel I am very easy going, things don't bother me like they bother them. I don't sweat the small stuff. I wish everyone would just suck it up because we all have to live together. You are right this is life and I would love for my family to be a little more loving to my mother and not complain about the little things she does.

Of course, we all do..You're not alone...But you have to make time for yourself and your family..I don't know your situation but if the kids are old enough they can sit with Mom while you enjoy husband time..My mother lives with us but my kids are grown and my husband stays with my Mom while I go out...He is willing I took care of his mother when she was sick with cancer , drove her to appts.. shopped, went to the NH daily before her death... He knows that he is a part of my mother's family and will always be treated like a son to her..She knows he treats her better than her own sons!!!

Everyone has to realize this is life! and they will learn through you what being part of a loving family is all about...
