It's hard to determine stages with someone with dementia because as the saying goes...."if you've seen one person with dementia, you've seen just one person with dementia."
Everyone will be as different as the type of dementia that they have, and there are hundreds.
You will know when your loved one has taken a step down, and when they have plateaued for a while, and no 2 cases are ever the same.
Some dementias are very aggressive with life expectancies of just 5-7 years while others can go on for 20+ years.

Polly , dementia is an umbrella term for many different kinds of dementia.

There is Alzheimer's, vascular, lewy body, and many more.

If you want to learn more, go on you tube, Google Teepa Snow, or get the book, the 36 hour day. Or just google it. There is tons of information.

I'm really not sure about the stage's, because they all pretty much blend together. I just think more in terms of , begining , middle and end.

If you want to add more details, that would be good we can try to answer your question better
