Doctors don't want to do surgery as he would likely not make it through, but he is constantly in pain and galled. His testicles are roughly the size of grapefruits. Are there any products on the market to support this?

We purchased this apparatus that cradles the testicles and goes over his shoulders, but it is like a thong and he can't remove it quick enough when he needs to go to the restroom, so it isn't working out. We've tried various types of bike shorts, underwear, jock straps and the like. Is there anything anyone has first hand experience with?

Please google Las Vegas man with huge testicles. This local man suffered from this condition and when surgery was done the surgeon removed 132 pounds of material, not counting the fluids. He suffered quite a bit and found it difficult to move around. His penis was buried about a foot inside of his mass but he was able to urinate. Castration is an option in some cases. This man was on Howard Stern and the subject of a TLC program. This gentleman recently passed away. You may want to contact the doctor mentioned who did this surgery for further advice.

Chicago, with no treatment at all they will go gangrene. Soon.
Nancy, for a Veterinarian, the option would be castration. Bear in mind that dogs, cats and horses carry the gonads so body weight is not pressing on them, so this seldom happens.

I truly think that I would risk the surgery. I mean, what is the other option?

Oh my gosh what an awful thing for an old man to have to deal with. I wonder if asking a veterinarian of large animals if he/she has any ideas. Sounds weird, but they are used to dealing with testicles on the large scale right?

The standard treatment for swelling is ice and elevation.. LOL! Personally I would get him in a hot tub. The warm water opens the circulation and the weightlessness of being in water relieves pressure on the herniation. Epsom salts: 1TBSP in 1 quart of warm water, applied as a compress is also helpful. Epsom Salts, aka Magnesium Sulfate is very osmotic and good in a bath.

Ah, my husband had hernia surgeries years before, so that may have helped him with the cancer-related swelling. Keep pressing though. Apparently this is a common enough issue to warrant more attention in the medical community for patient comfort and dignity.

Unfortunately, his is due to a long past herniation. The doctors said that it could be repaired surgically, but at his age (84) and in his current health condition, it is highly unlikely he would make it through the surgery/recovery.

He has incontinence issues and recently they treated that with a catheter placed under his navel. Still some issues there, but not nearly as bad. I'm not sure that would have anything to do with the enlargement issues though.

Does he have fluid issues elsewhere? Is something blocking return blood flow? I've seen this with my husband, and it looked horribly uncomfortable to me, but he said that it didn't really hurt unless he sat on them on squeezed them when he walked. We did not find anything in a garment that helped. The cancer doctors didn't seem particularly interested, but an ER doctor we saw when my husband's red blood count was low prescribed sufficient and appropriate medication to help the testicles shrink and relieved fluid retention elsewhere. This doctor was a hospitalist, an older man, he understood the discomfort, and he knew immediately what to do. It wasn't rocket science, so I really do fault the doctors who didn't care. Stay after them, call them repeatedly, talk to office staff. Make sure they know who you are and what the problem is. It can be resolved.
