My grandfather was sitting down when he saw ants on the table but when he got up they disappeared. It was just for a brief moment and he does not have any memory loss or sthg similar to that. What could it be?

I catch glimpses of things that aren’t there all the time. It’s just your eye or your brain or the communication between them glitching for a moment. Not necessarily anything wrong, but get it checked out if he’s worried.

Wow, this could be anything.
I have "floaters" and am seeing a lot of "gnats", occasionally they will be on the paper I am reading or float across the computer screen.
It could be visual hallucinations.
The only way to know what it is would be with an eye exam

I was going to say it could be "floaters". They can be associated with any number of eye issues but also with Aural migraines.

Additionally - hallucinations are another very real possibility. During one very real to him weekend of a UTI my FIL recently experienced snakes coming out of the walls of his room. They are no longer there and there have been no further sightings since the UTI cleared up - but that was a horrific weekend.

I agree with Lealonnie. It is time to take this problem to the MD. With certain eye conditions there can be what they call "visual hallucinations". Stress and mental disorders, dementia, can also cause these. It is time to rule out any visual problems and have this referred on. You can look some of these symptoms up on the internet by typing in "visual hallunications".

It could be time for a full eye exam with his Opthamologist to rule out eye diseases and check his vision to see if he needs glasses or a prescription change.

Good luck to you.
