My mother's vision is the main reason why she is falling frequently. She has poor depth perception. I think that because of her vision being off is the reason why she keeps falling. I can only think that maybe a wheelchair would be a better option for her.
Not everyone ends up in awheelchair due to some catastrophic event. Some, like my mother, end up in one because one day it was decided that she could be gotten from Point A to Point B faster and far more safely in a wheelchair than by struggling with a walker. She, too, had vision issues (macular degeneration) and dementia, plus I'd just moved her to a memory care place. On the third day there she got out of bed, fell and ended up with 28 stitches in her forehead.
That was the last day she tried to walk anywhere, and she was much better off in her wheelchair and much less fearful.
