Is it okay for me to take turns with my 2 sisters keeping my mom with Alzheimer's or should she stay one place? We cannot stay at her home.

While it might be best that your moms stay in the same place, it is not best for either of you. It's good you have given yourselves permission to take this break. Your moms are one of many people in your families. You are all important. I'm happy for you that you have siblings who will step up and take their turn in caring for your moms. Hugs to both of you.

We are in a similar situation. In this case we are waiting for an opening in our top choice AL and it might be many months. She has lived in a MIL next to me for years, but has gotten worse recently so I desperately needed a break. She will be staying with my brother for about 2 1/2 months and then will move in with my sister for an undetermined length of time. It is confusing for her, but I have to say she was also confused while she was next to me. We are HOPING for an opening in AL soon.

So it isn't ideal, but after factoring in everything this is the solution we kids came up with.

It's comforting to read that two siblings are ready to provide complimentary and alternate care for your mother, but unfortunately, the change from one place could complicate her Alzheimer's. It's best if she stays in one place and becomes used to that home.

Is she still living alone? What stage is her AD? Would she be wiling to stay with either of you? Are either of you working full time? I ask b/c there will be challenges as the disease progresses, and it's a good idea to address and plan for them now.
