My parents need microwaveable meals delivered. We tried one place, but they didn’t like the meals. Any suggestions for other places would be helpful. They are not loving the Wegmans prepared meals either and my siblings and I cannot always make them dinner.

Jdruziak: Meals on Wheels phone number for Webster, NY is 585-787-8397. My late mother used the services of MOW and was happy with the noontime delivered meal Monday through Friday. Also, MOW prepared and sent extra meals for holidays. MOW also offers dietary needs for many, i.e. diabetic, low salt and more. There are many other food delivery options out there today such as restaurant delivery, Door Dash and many others. Some church groups have options for meal prep and delivery.

My mother often complained about the meals- and consider the elderly lose taste and smell so perfectly good food can be unappetizing to them.
great ideas offered already with restaurant take out, etc. I can suggest that the Foodsaver machine ( sucks air out of the plastic bag) will keep food fresher longer in fridge- months. If you can order many things and then "shrink wrap" them in food saver, then you don't have to order so often. Probably able to even shrink wrap it along with the microwavable plate if they cant put food on their own plates new. Just cut the plastic on a side and the air opens it and food comes out easily.

Why don't you order microwavable frozen from a grocery store? They have a great variety of meals and they're delicious and probably cheaper than a food service.

I get Mom's Meals delivered to my Mom. She loves them. They have several diet options to choose from. You can pick meals you wNt or they can do it for you. Some meals come with juice, jello, pudding, bread, roll etc depending on the meal. Mom has loved every meal.

My mother/uncle did not like the Meals on Wheels since the food is very plan (cafeteria-like). So we order for food delivery from local restaurants that they like.

I'd also suggest meal subscription plans, like Freshly. I orderly Freshly for 6 weeks for my husband when I was away once and he really liked it. The meals come fully prepared and all you have to do is microwave them. They provide a wide choices of meals.

I have tried Meals on Wheels in two different towns, my experience has been, they are tasteless, institutional food. The first time, I signed my mom up. I wanted her to have someone to talk to. It turned out, the used mentally disabled people who weren't verbal. So, not only was the food bland, the delivery didn't fix her problem of being isolated.

I have tried various online meal programs and have not been pleased at all either.

In our area there are several locally owned businesses that offer freshly made meals that can be used within a few days or frozen for later. Because they are not shipped they are not limited to certain ingredients and don't have added preservatives. Some even use fresh local ingredients. I can place an online or phone order then pick up or simply go in and select whatever is available from their cooler or freezer. Their menu changes weekly so there is a variety but they keep the popular items on the menu as well. Some even offer a delivery service. Some restaurants and grocery stores have begun offering the service as well... it is one of the positive things that came from the pandemic. Because most are small businesses they don't widely advertise so I am always looking for the next best choice.

I know these aren't available everywhere but here is a sample of where I get mine to give you some ideas and hopefully you can find similar businesses in your area.

We tried Mom’s Meals and Top Chef Meals. Top Chef Meals have more entree choices, especially if you don’t beef, and you can choose your side dishes. They custom prepare meals for kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, etc.
