I'm trying to find out is it true that my mother needs a referral from Commission on Aging or some type of Aging program saying she needs a fall alert button don't understand that but not from her doctor. And she has Medicare she's not eligible for Medicaid

Never heard of needing a referral but I paid for Moms service monthly.

II heard something like that also when I call one of the alert button places to get information they told me I would need to call aging Commission or somebody else to get a referral for her to get it but I found out that they said that probably thinking that her insurance will pay for it but she's on Medicare so they don't pay for them with the monthly fee so that's why I think that was said

You need to speak with the health insurance your LO has as secondary after Medicare if she has that supplemental. Medicare and Medicaid do not provide this service.

My uncles insurance did with one company ADT. We were able to get one without a referral. However, you mothers insurance may require it. I would think her primary care could put the referral in but you need to sort that out with her secondary insurance if she has one.

Medicare and Medicaid don't pay for these. They are usually paid for by the senior themselves. Some supplemental insurance policies will pay for them. I would start with calling her supplemental and asking exactly what they require. I would think it would be a referral/prescription from her MD.

We used Great Call for my dad and had good success with it. We didn’t have a referral from anyone, just bought it, installed and used it
