If he is a veteran, there are some male only VA facilities in SC... not sure of the levels of care available, but CM Tucker in Columbia is male only.

Even surgical castration does not reliably curtail sexually driven behavior in all cases, let alone pharmaceuticals. People just end up masterbating nonstop.

as long as they don't do it in public areas 🤷‍♀️

It seems to me your husband needs a new doctor. One who understands dementia and Inappropriate Sexual Behavior and how to properly medicate it rather than telling you to place him in a "male only" Assisted Living facility which doesn't exist! He needs a GOOD doctor familiar with dementia, and a good Memory Care Assisted Living facility that has locks on the residents doors, along with medication to curb his sexual appetite. This is NOT the first case of ISB to occur with dementia and it surely will not be the last.

Good luck.

Try a small, private home foster care setting. They are licensed and regulated by the state. Even if they aren’t set up as male or female only, sometimes they become that way over time, by default.

The Twilight Zone episode Kick the Can came out in 1961. Residents of the featured nh slept coed by bed in a room sharing all of them.

So no, men or women only facilities haven’t existed for a long time.

You are in trouble then, men can't even have a men only club nowadays. Unfortunately this is what women wanted and they never even thought about the adverse consequences of their wishes.

I would recommend trying to find a board and care that only happens to have all male residents at the moment. However, if your husband can't have female caregivers, you may need to ask the doctor about chemical castration and other drugs to stop the behaviors.

My prayers are with you, you are in a hard place.

Huh? Yes, men have it SO hard these days. It’s just pitiful!

Yeah, women wanting basic equality ruined men’s lives. Naysayers said the same thing about women voting.

Why do you need this? It seems unlikely.

I doubt very much you going to find a just mens facility. Call your County Office of Aging and see if they can help or point you in the right direction.

This is a forum of Caregivers from all over the US. So really cannot give you specific information for your State.

OP could, going the group home route. Don't know if it is still in business, but there was one in a nearby suburb of the facility. mother and son. operation. with the son operating the all male location.

I don't know the answer to that.
If you have any businesses that function to put you in contact with care facilities, such as A Place for Mom (who moderates and owns this page) then they may be able to answer that question for you. I have actually never seen a facility that was divided according to gender.

You might also call care facilities in your area and ask this question. If any exist I would think they would know it.
Best of luck to you.

Agree with your recommendation for using A Place for Mom's service. They were extremely helpful when I needed to find an AL situation for my 94 yr old aunt.
