I live in Oklahoma. Can I become a full time home health care provider for my husband? Is there a program that I can get paid for it so that I would not have to also work full time?

Does OK Medicaid really pay for full time in home care? Most states it is only a couple hours a week...

in most states it is more than a couple of hours a week actually. The amount of hours is determined by the needs of the person. Many states are also moving to PACE which does provide full time home care when it is cheaper than going to a nursing home. Only a few states have a cap on the hours they will pay for, and the cap is usually at 20 hours a week.

Spouses are not eligible to be paid family caregivers through your state-Oklahoma’s- programs. If your husband is on Medicaid then he may eligible for one the programs that would pay for home care/caregivers and that would allow you to work full time outside the home. I don’t believe the VA will pay a spouse either, because they won’t pay someone who “provides support to the veteran”.

This is a very good question! I do not know the answer but am looking forward to reading responses from those who may know. Is your husband a Veteran?
